Adelanto Hit-And-Run Car Crash Seriously Injures Pedestrian

A 26-year-old man suffered critical injuries in an Adelanto hit-and-run pedestrian accident that occurred on August 10, 2011, around 1:30 a.m. in Adelanto. According to San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials, deputies found a man lying in the center of the pathway at Rancho and Aster Roads, about 2-1/2 miles west of Highway 395.

The injured pedestrian suffered serious head injuries, possible fractures on his left leg and severe road rashes. The car accident victim was immediately airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton to receive treatment for the serious injuries suffered.

From the available information, it is evident that the reckless and irresponsible behavior of the driver led to this serious car wreck. We trust that this hit-and-run motorist will soon be apprehended and brought to justice. It is illegal under California to leave the scene of any traffic accident and that includes a car wreck. This motorist should have remained at the scene, waited for the authorities to arrive, and helped the injured victim in any way he could; but, he chose to drive away from the scene.

The injured pedestrian should consult with an experienced San Bernardino County hit-and-run auto accident attorney who would educate him about his legal rights and help him obtain a timely compensation to cover treatment, medical and hospital costs, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, and other accident-related damages.

Our law office sincerely hopes that the injuries suffered by the pedestrian do not prove life-threatening.…

Los Angeles Boy Killed As He Crosses Street

A Southern California boy was killed last week when he was crossing a street in Los Angeles. The 14-year-old boy from Inglewood named Semaj Spencer was the tragic victim of this hit and run pedestrian accident. The suspect of the death has been charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter and a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident.

Prosecutors in the case note that 40-year-old Andre Thompson of South Los Angeles had also been charged on Thursday with driving under a suspended or revoked license, which is considered a misdemeanor in California. Thompson has pleaded not guilty to his charges in an Inglewood Superior Court, however. He also reportedly turned himself into the police earlier this week and was subsequently arrested in the death of young Semaj Spencer. The teen boy was struck by the vehicle and killed last Sunday when he crossed the road at Imperial Highway in Los Angeles.

Costa Mesa Pedestrian Collision Seriously Injured By Drunk Driver

21-year-old Katushka Fischmann of Santa Ana was struck and injured in a serious DUI crash that occurred on August 7, 2011, around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of Bristol Street and Randolph Avenue in Costa Mesa.

Santa Police reported that Bonnie Yee was driving her Mercedes-Benz north when she struck Fischmann near a crosswalk. Fischmann suffered major head trauma and was immediately transported to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana for treatment.

Police officials later arrested Yee on suspicion of felony driving under the influence. It is indeed an unfortunate thing that due to the negligent and intoxicated driver, a young woman is left in critical condition. Yee will most likely be found to have violated California Vehicle Code Section 23152(a) which states that “It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle.”

Unfortunately, the magnitude of injuries suffered by Fischmann is very high and the treatment or recovery time may be long. Fischmann needs to consult with an experienced Orange County pedestrian accident lawyer to learn about her legal rights and options and obtain a timely compensation to cover treatment, hospital and medical costs, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, and other accident-related damages.

Our personal injury law office sincerely hopes that the injuries suffered by the victim do not prove fatal.…

An unidentified 60-year-old motel worker in El Cajon was struck and killed in a serious car accident that occurred on July 14, 2011, around 1 p.m. at the Villa Embasadora on 1556 E. Main Street. According to authorities, a 75-year-old female motorist accidentally pressed on her gas pedal by mistake, plowing into a motel maid and pinning her against a wall.

Authorities responding to this auto accident pronounced the victim dead at the accident scene. The elderly car driver was in the parking lot when she stepped on the accelerator instead of the break and killed the maid.

The driver, as well as possibly the motel, may be held responsible for the maid’s wrongful death. Elderly Chino Pedestrian Injured in San Bernardino County Car Crash

67-year-old Luis Octavio Castillo was seriously injured in a Chino pedestrian accident that occurred on June 15, 2011, around 7:37 a.m. along the 3300 block of Riverside Drive. According to police officials, Castillo was walking through a construction area when he was struck by a 2007 Scion TC driven by 21-year-old Lissette Carolina Menijvar.

Due to a county construction project, the eastbound lanes of Riverside Drive had been temporarily diverted to the westbound lanes. Castillo was immediately airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. The investigating officers need to determine if the diversion of roads and construction area had proper signs to guide drivers along.

From the facts set forth in the news story, it appears that Menijvar may have been at fault for causing this serious pedestrian crash. Under California Vehicle Code Section 21950(a), “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection….”

However, the construction company may be held liable for the damages as well after a further investigation. Castillo needs to consult with a San Bernardino County pedestrian accident lawyer to obtain compensation to cover treatment, medical and hospitalization costs, and other accident-related damages.

Our personal injury law office sincerely hopes and prays that the injuries suffered by the pedestrian heal soon and do not prove life-threatening.…

Pedestrian Injured In Orange County Car Crash

A 74 year-old woman sustained serious injuries in a pedestrian accident on June 15, 2010 when she was hit by a Nissan Sentra. According to the news report submitted in the Orange County Register, the injured pedestrian was walking with her dog in the 3100 block of Yorba Linda Boulevard in Fullerton when she was struck by the car.

Police officials stated that the injured lady might have stepped into the westbound lanes to go around the car, which was coming out of an apartment complex driveway. The injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

We wish the injured pedestrian a speedy and complete recovery and hope that her injuries are not life threatening. Normally, California law holds that drivers must give the right of way to pedestrians in marked crosswalks and at an intersection. Under California law, an intersection is any place where two streets come together at a right angle. However, even given these protections (which are set forth in California Vehicle Code Section 21950) does not relieve the pedestrian from exercising reasonable care for his safety.…

Florida Woman Killed in Santa Barbara Pedestrian Accident

Garcia Flores, 47-years old of Florida, was killed in a Santa Barbara pedestrian accident at Coast Village Road on May 27, 2010. Flores was walking across an intersection when she was hit by a mini-van.

The mini-van was driven by a 17 -year old driver who lost control of his van and struck Flores badly, throwing her more than a few feet away towards the intersection of Coast Village and Butterfly Lane, where she died immediately. The teenager told Police Officers that his van suddenly started to veer to the right, and when he tried hitting the brakes, they didn’t work. He says that is when the van jumped the curb and hit Flores. Officials found drug paraphernalia and marijuana in the teen’s minivan, but it is not certain that he was under influence of any drug or alcohol.

We offer our condolences to Flores’s family and friends for such an irreparable and tragic loss. If the teenager is found to be under the influence of drugs, we hope that he is prosecuted as an adult to the fullest extent of the law. Regardless, if the accident was caused by the teenage driver, we hope that Flores’s family consults with a personal injury attorney and obtains key advice as to how to balance the scales of justice in this case. They will never be made whole—Flores is dead and cannot be brought back—but the civil justice system can at least help minimize some of the loss.…

Pedestrian Injured In Riverside County Hit-And-Run Car Accident

A pedestrian in his 50s suffered serious injuries when he was struck by an unidentified SUV on May 18, 2011, around 12:35 a.m. in the Homeland area of Hemet. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the pedestrian was walking across Highway 74 when an SUV struck him. The SUV was described as a dark-colored Ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator with chrome rims, estimated to be a 2002 to 2006 model. Riverside police are searching for the driver.

The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was immediately transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. It is absolutely inhuman that the SUV driver did not stop and fled from the accident scene, leaving the elderly pedestrian unattended.

Leaving the scene of an accident is a serious violation under California law. California Vehicle Code 20001 (a) states:

“The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.”

Morally, the SUV driver should have remained at the accident scene and waited until authorities got there.

The pedestrian’s family members should immediately seek counsel from an experienced pedestrian accident lawyer serving Riverside County to learn about their legal rights and obtain fair compensation to cover treatment, medical and hospitalization costs, and other accident-related damages. A Riverside County pedestrian lawyer would assure that the at-fault SUV driver is apprehended and brought to justice.

Our sincere prayers go out to the injured pedestrian and we hope that he recovers quickly.…
